Continuing Education Personal Development Hours (PDH's): 24 PDH's biannually
Renewal Date: December 31 annually (biannually beginning 2009) All licensees will renew in 2009. Licensees with even-numbered licenses will be renewed for one year and have to renew again in 2010, after which they will renew on even years. Licensees with odd-numbered licenses will renew in 2009, and then renew again in 2011.
Requirements: No course preapproval required, completion of college course, or completion of continuing education course, or successful completion of correspondence courses that have an examination, televised or videotaped courses, other short courses/tutorials , or presenting or attending seminars, in-house courses, workshops, completing a study tour that results in a written or visual presentation by the licensee, presentations at meetings, conventions, conferences, or teaching a course for the first time, authoring a published paper, article, or book (1 PDH per hour of preparation claimed only after publication), or participating in professional examination grading or writing (5 PDH per renewal period max), or being granted a patent (10 PDH), or serving on boards, commissions, and committees that draw upon the licensee's professional expertise (10 PDH max per renewal period).
Renewal Exemptions: You are exempt from continuing education if: You just received your license this year, you spent over 120 consecutive days overseas in employment or military service, or you suffered serious injury, illness, or extenuating circumstances that prevented your renewal.
