Professional Engineering License Renewal Continuing Education Requirements

Georgia

Do our courses provide valid continuing education credit for this state? Yes

Do I have to send in evidence of completion of my continuing education credits? No

Continuing Education Personal Development Hours (PDH's): 12 PDH's required each year for a total of 24 PDH's per biennial period

Renewal Date: December 31 of odd-numbered years (Submit by December 1st to ensure processing by December 31)

Requirements: No course preapproval required, activities for PDH credit must be relevant to engineering within the registrant's field of practice and may include technical, managerial, or ethical information, completion of college course (1 semester hour = 45 PDH's), or successful completion of short courses, tutorials, correspondence courses, web-based courses, and televised or videotaped courses (1 PDH per hour of attendance), or presenting or attending seminars, in-house workshops or professional or technical presentations at meetings, conventions, or teaching a course for the first time (2 PDH per course hour, doesn't apply to full-time faculty), or publishing a paper, article, or book relevant to area of practice (10 PDH), being granted a patent (10 PDH)

Renewal Exemptions: You are exempt from continuing education if: You just received your license this year, no longer practicing, you are retired, you spent over 120 consecutive days overseas in military service, or you had a serious illness or injury that kept you from obtaining continuing education, you are 65 years or older, you have been actively registered for 25 years or more
